The
Flanders Fields Conference on Military Law and the Law of War concluded today, following a jam-packed array of panels and a visit to the excellent Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres. Two morning panels explored contemporary challenges of international law in the protection of specific groups in armed conflict (protection of medical personnel and rights and obligations associated with humanitarian access), with

Vaios Koutroulis,
Florika Fink-Hooijer,
Emanuela Chiara Gillard, and
Martina Ghelarducci. The afternoon was devoted to two equally excellent panels on military justice "in difficult circumstances," and featured

Elizabeth L. Hillman,
