Transparency watch

Timely access to military investigations is a continuing problem for the news media, as witness this article chronicling the efforts of various media outlets as well as Military Reporters and Editors (the respected military-journalists' organization), the Society of Professional Journalists and Northwestern University’s National Security Journalism Initiative, to obtain the AR 15-6 investigation into the murders committed by Staff Sgt. Robert Bales of the Army. The reasons for withholding it seem ever more unpersuasive.
