NPR has posted this story by Quil Lawrence on its website today. It describes the difficulties faced by civilian victims of sex offenses by military personnel, and points out some differences between military and civilian criminal practice.
While noting the advent of Special Victims Counsel, the piece comments: "[c]ivilians who find themselves in a military court still aren't assigned a Special Victims Counsel."
