Reparations paid in NZ training death case

The New Zealand Defence Force will be prosecuting two soldiers in connection with a training death, according to this report. What is especially interesting to a reader in the United States is that the government has paid a sizable sum to the decedent's family following a charge by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment that the military failed to take all practicable steps to ensure the victim's safety.

Postscript: It now seems that more than two soldiers are under charges -- and that they facing summary trials.
