The National Post chronicles on the front page of its Friday, May 29, 2015 edition a series of events that have taken place at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario over the past few weeks indicating the continued presence of serious sexual misconduct on the part of Cadets. These incidents contextualize the damming report tabled on March 30, 2015 by retired Justice Marie Deschamps of the Supreme Court of Canada which warned of a sexualized culture in the Canadian Forces in general where harassment is commonplace and victims are unwilling to complain for fear of being ostracized, demoted, transferred or harassed anew. As noted by the National Post, the latest victim of a sexual assault which allegedly took place at RMC on May 13, 2015 has chosen to NOT file a complaint. That assault allegedly took place on the eve of Convocation. According to news report it was reported to military police authorities not by the victim but by a third party.
In the meanwhile, a court martial is currently taking place at the College of an Officer Cadet accused of raping one cadet and walking naked into the shower stall of another cadet.
