Chilean Supreme Court: case belongs in civilian court

A 44-year-old man dies after being held in a Chilean carabineros van for eight hours, after having been arrested for failing to pay a restaurant bill. Held, by the Supreme Court of Chile: the case belongs in civilian court. Judicial Prosecutor Monica Maldonado "cited a ruling on a similar case, where the Supreme Court held that the rights of the victim find greater recognition when a case is tried in the regular courts."
