Four-year term of office for California state appellate military justice

California Governor Jerry Brown has named David McCray of Beverage & Diamond to the state's Courts-Martial Appellate Panel. This report notes that he will have a four-year term as a justice, in contrast to the three-year terms enjoyed by Army and Coast Guard trial and appellate military judges and the at-will arrangements that still govern in the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force. A Californian who commits an offense while in title 32 status will thus have her case decided on appeal by jurists with longer terms than will one who commits an offense while in title 10 status.
