A Ugandan court-martial has convicted two civilians of illegally possessing a firearm and of robbing and attempting to murder another civilian. The two were sentenced to 30 years in prison. Details
here. Illegal possession of a firearm is the statutory basis for military jurisdiction. This is strongly disfavored under human rights jurisprudence and forbidden under the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.
