Alaska National Guard improves handling of sexual assault complaints

The Alaska National Guard has received high marks on a recent state audit assessing its handling of sexual assault complaints within its ranks. The Alaska Legislature revamped the state guard's military justice system in 2016 following a sexual assault scandal that prompted bipartisan outrage. Interestingly, part of the original ineptness in handling sexual assaults emanating from the Guard was, reportedly, due to the local Anchorage police department's failures ... no news on whether that part of the problem has been ameliorated.

  1. I wonder if we will see a spike in state military law cases given the major deployment of national guard troops during the riots this week.
