In
Asim Bashir v. Federation of Pakistan, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has upheld the conviction of an army officer for murdering his mother's niece while he was on leave. He had argued that the offense should have been tried in a civilian court, but the court accepted the government's argument that the prosecution was in accordance with the
Pakistan Army Act, 1952.
The Nation has
this report. The decision is not yet posted on the court's
website.
The case was tried 10 years ago.
