The Military Chamber of the Spanish Supreme Court has overturned the conviction of a member of the Guardia Civil for violating the dignity of the Guardia by participating in several competitive races while on sick leave. The court found that her participation in the races -- recommended by her psychiatrists as treatment for depression and anxiety -- did not damage the reputation or credibility of the service or offend the values of honesty, reliability and respect for the law that have earned it public esteem.
