This week saw the UK's two main Military Court Centres re-open for buisness following a prolonged suspension caused by Covid-19. With the exception of urgent matters relating to the liberty of the subject and applications for search warrants the Service Justice System has not been sitting since March. However, this week a series of remote case management hearings began to ensure cases were trial ready. This is in accordance with the Judge Advocate General's plan for a staged return to business as normal. The plan is available here.In drawing up the plan with the Deputy Judge Advocate General, HHJ Jeff Blackett consulted with both prosecutors and defence advocates as well as the Military Court Service. Hopefully this team effort will ensure the Service Justice System is back up and running very soon.
