Secret trials and "transparency"

This article in Dawn falsely claims that Pakistan's revived military courts will provide greater transparency. The details it provides indicate nothing of the kind. That the rules of evidence will apply, or that the accused will be informed of the grounds for arrest within a prescribed period, and will have the right to counsel of choice does not address the problem of secret trials. Suppose very fine trials were conducted, but were entirely closed to the public. Would that be acceptable?
