No military burial for IDF deserters

The Knesset has approved military burial legislation that would preclude interment in military cemeteries for Israel Defence Force soldiers who die after three weeks' unauthorized absence. According to this article in Israel Hayom:
"Soldiers who had been AWOL for three or more weeks, which is considered desertion, were previously eligible for military burial if they were killed during their AWOL period.
"The new law on military burials also stipulated that nonmilitary members of the country's security forces, for example members of the Shin Bet, Mossad, Israel Police and Israel Prison Services, will also be eligible for burial in military cemeteries."
