The Supreme Court of India is considering a petition filed by the Armed Forces Tribunal Chandigarh Branch Bar Association. So far, the 3-member bench has rejected the Association's claim that the head of the Tribunal had abused his discretion in temporarily reassigning one of the AFT's judicial members. Still pending is a claim that the Ministry of Defence ought not to have control over AFT appointments. In addition, the Attorney General has made allegations that disability pension cases at the AFT have become "a racket." Details
