A two-judge bench of the Peshawar High Court has stayed the execution of five civilians sentenced to death by military courts. According to

Dawn, the issue seems to be that, although the Supreme Court of Pakistan has upheld the trial of civilians by court-martial pursuant to a controversial (and no longer in force) constitutional amendment, the provision under which these men were tried applied only to offenders "who claimed or were known to be part of terrorist groups using the name of religion or religious sects to carry out their activities."
