Leaders of anglophone secessionist movement face court-martial in Cameroon

The in-camera trial by a military tribunal of two leaders of the Consortium de la société occidentale anglophone du Cameroon [Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium] is currently taking place in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroun.

The Consortion and its activities were deemed to be illegal by the government. The accused, Nkongho Félix Agbor Balla and Afoteka’a Neba, are facing eight separate criminal charges including: a) dissemination of false news; b) acts against the state; and, c)  armed rebellion. They face the death penalty. The Cameroon Bar Association has mobilized to provide support to the accused.
