Where should this case be tried?

As readers of Global Military Justice Reform know, the choice of military vs. civilian forum is a preoccupation of this blog. Consider this article, concerning the arrest of a South African Navy special forces officer on charges of murdering the wife of another member of the service. The victim's body was found in a freezer in her on-base home at Saldana Military Base. The suspect will be taken before a civilian magistrate's court. Certainly the crime alleged would be considered service-connected in countries that apply a nexus requirement. But if it can be tried in civilian court, why not try it there?
