Inconsistent pleading in Rwanda

Here's an interesting case from Rwanda. An accused being prosecuted in a military court claimed he was not subject to military jurisdiction because he had retired. When the court rejected that argument on the ground that he was being tried for offenses committed while he was still on active duty, he insisted (again unsuccessfully) that the judge, a mere major, could not preside because he was junior to the accused, who had been a brigadier general. Some days you can't catch a break.
