Michel Samaha |
Following the military court conviction of former Lebanese government minister
Michel Samaha, Justice Minister
Achraf Rifi had
this to say, according to
L'Orient | Le Jour:
We will do our best to appeal this decision, emphasized Mr. Rifi. The case is unacceptable. This is not a court, this is a farce, and we will work to end the military court, taking the necessary measures. The majority of countries have abolished military tribunals. We have no reason to keep ours.
Editor's note: some countries have actually or in effect abolished their military courts, but it is doubtful that they represent a majority of current nation states.
