The American Nurses Association has spoken up in support of a Navy nurse who faces possible administrative separation for objecting to participation in force-feeding hunger-striking detainees at Guantanamo.
The Miami Herald's indefatigable
Carol Rosenberg has
the story. The nurse's attorney, Manhattan litigator and Navy JAG Corps veteran
Ronald W. Meister, tells
The Herald:
I think he has acted in the highest traditions of the nursing profession. . . . How can you condemn a nurse who takes into consideration everything he’s been taught about patient welfare and obtaining consent and making individualized decisions and acting on everything he’s been taught?
