Col. Winthrop's final resting place

Thanks to Col. Dwight H. Sullivan, USMCR (Ret) for this photograph of the tombstone of Col. William Woolsey Winthrop, who wrote Military Law and Precedents in the 19th century. The book remains "the Bible" of military justice. Col. Winthrop and his wife Alice are buried in Washington's Rock Creek Cemetery.
