Conjoined Canadian twins: Prosecution and Defence are both part of the Office of the JAG

At present, the military defence counsel division and the military prosecution division are both part of the Office of the Judge Advocate General (JAG) who exercises overall supervision over each one of them.

The JAG is also responsible for the career progression (training, assignments, postings, promotions) of each of the military lawyers serving within each of these divisions.  Such close connection, relationship, affinity and consanguinity between the defence counsel division, the military prosecution division and the JAG, who reports to the Minister of National Defence, defies any notion of the being free from dependence, subjection, control, influence or dictation from exterior power.

This matter is addressed in the book "BEHIND THE TIMES" by the Hon. Gilles Létourneau and Prof. Michel Drapeau.
