From my perspective, such crimes should be prosecuted before civilian courts. Military courts should only have authority to try purely military crimes and offenses. Sexual crimes violate not military law but the law of the land. One powerful reason. In Canada, victims of crimes tried before military tribunals are specifically excluded from the protection and benefits provided under the Victims of Crimes Act.
