New Mexican military justice system explained

El Universal has published this extensive interview (in Spanish) with Brig. Gen. Gonzalo Corona González, director general of military justice at the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA). Among other things, he stresses that the new military justice system will offer the public greater transparency in the administration of military justice. According to available data, disobedience is the most common offense committees by Mexican military personnel. The constitutionality of the new legislation is under challenge in the Supreme Court, but SEDENA believes the law complies with the Constitution. Gen. Corona González added that the armed forces will obey whatever the court decides.
