Peruvian naval retiree convicted of treason

A Peruvian Navy retiree has been convicted of treason by a military court and sentenced to 35 years in prison. He was found to have passed intelligence to Chilean intelligence officials. Details here, in Spanish.

Human rights principles strongly disfavor the use of military courts to try offenses by retirees. This has been a recurring issue in Latin America.
