Canada creates team to examine sexual misconduct in military

Canadian Chief of Defence Tom Lawson nominated Major-General Christine Whitecross to lead the newly created Canadian Armed Forces Strategic Response Team on Sexual Misconduct.  The response team is part of Lawson's action plan to stem sexual misconduct in the Canadian Armed Forces. Lawson's action plan is likely in anticipation of the forthcoming release of a report on sexual harassment and assault in the Canadian military, by Marie Deschamps, a former Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada. Sources say that the action plan is designed to stem criticism about the Canadian military when Deschamps' report becomes public.
