Karremans case heard in Arnhem

Col. Thom Karremans
There was applause at the Arnhem courthouse when former Dutchbat commander Col. Thom Karremans arrived for a hearing. At issue is whether he and other officers should be prosecuted for failing to prevent the 1995 Srbrenica massacre. His lawyer says that if a prosecution goes forward, he will call the former Prime Minister and Defense Minister to testify. A decision is expected in six weeks. Details here and here.

Postscript: The hearing was behind closed doors, according to this account.
